Thank Goodness for Heated Gear!

Screen Shot 2014-12-20 at 7.13.40 AMI think I do this blog entry every year once the temps drop below freezing and co-workers look at me as if I’m nuts for continuing to ride my motorcycle to work each day.  I don’t think they can appreciate that with the right gear — and in particular a heated jackets and gloves — riding in temps below freezing isn’t really a problem.

It was 23°F when I rode to work yesterday morning and while it always feels a little brisk around my face up and inside my modular helmet during the first 5 minutes of the ride, that initial ‘chill factor’ quickly fades as the heated gear counters the cold air flowing over my outer garments.  The BMW’s fairings and windscreen also block most of the cold air blast so I stay relatively toasty for the 30 minute, traffic-free ride at 5:30am.

About TG

I've been around a bit and done a few things, have a couple kids and a few grandkids. I tend to be curmudgeonly, matter-of-fact and not predisposed to self-serving chit-chat. Thankfully, my wife's as nice as can be otherwise we'd have no friends. My interests are somewhat eclectic, but whose aren't?
