Finally… Nice Weather on a Weekend & 32 Days ’till Bike Week!

20150207_134143Well, we didn’t ride far but at least we got out on Blue for a little two-up, two-wheel, big-bike therapy today!

I pulled the cover off of Blue this morning and had her ready for when Miss Debbie came home from visiting with her folks this morning.  We were treated to blue skies, a warm sun and temps in the mid-50’s; a first since the new year!  As mentioned in a recent blog entry, the last time Blue was on the road was back on December 15th; yikes!

20150207_131806Given that we like to ride both the big bike and our pedal bikes two-up, we decided to limit our time on Blue to a quick ride through the National Battlefield Park for a late lunch at The Red Eyed Mule.

The Mule is usually our every other Friday lunch date destination, but seeing that this past Friday wasn’t one of those off-Fridays when we can do that, splitting a Jake’s Big Daddy would be just about right for a light lunch.

Now back at home with the temps in the upper 50’s, we’re all set to switch out our leathers for lycra and the iron horse for our carbon tandem for a little much-needed exercise and Vitamin D exposure.

What more could you hope for on an early February day when that darn rodent, Punxsutawney Phil, predicted another 6 weeks of winter.  Well, I’ve got a couple of things in mind and the day’s early!!

32 Days Until Bike Week!!!

We’re definitely counting down the days to Bike Week in Daytona Beach as well.  Just 32 days until we point Blue south and make our way to Florida for a much needed road trip and some “club stupid” therapy that only a motorcycle rally can deliver.

We finally gave up on getting a condo for our 3 night stay and secured a hotel room for about $212 a night with taxes, fees, etc. included.  A bit more than I was hoping for but certainly a lot less than most places are still asking.  We’ll check rates and availability again on March 3rd once  Bike Week is underway to see if the unsold rooms and cancellations don’t yield some discounts that we can take advantage of.  However, in the mean time, at least we don’t have to worry about having a place to stay.

About TG

I've been around a bit and done a few things, have a couple kids and a few grandkids. I tend to be curmudgeonly, matter-of-fact and not predisposed to self-serving chit-chat. Thankfully, my wife's as nice as can be otherwise we'd have no friends. My interests are somewhat eclectic, but whose aren't?
